A Haunting in Venice / Film synopsis

Serving as a sequel to 2022's Death on the Nile, A Haunting in Venice follows Poirot as he's lured out of self-imposed exile in post-World War II Italy to attend a Halloween night séance alongside his old friend and renowned mystery writer Ariadne Oliver (Tina Fey).

The film ends with Poirot returning home to accept a case that was first proposed to him in the opening scene. Is the palazzo actually haunted? There is no definitive answer given in the film. Since Poirot accidentally ingests the poisonous honey earlier, it explains why he hallucinates and hears voices of the dead.

Branagh's two previous Christie adaptations, Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile, are already streaming on Disney+. Both films are standalone whodunits, with Branagh's Poirot the only returning cast member, so you don't necessarily have to watch (or rewatch) them before A Haunting in Venice.
